If I were the boss

If I were the boss… I know one day this will happen, it is all just a matter of time.

As employees, we always have something to complain about when it comes to our bosses. Maybe the fact that they have no qualification in management, poor communication skills, or that they just aren’t nice people at all.

Whatever the case may be, people want to be treated like people in the work place, and when they are at work, they don’t want to be having such a hard as time as we spend most of our lives at work and therefore work should be a good place to be in.

Therefore as the boss, I would surround my work environment with people who are driven, people who show initiative, and people who realise that it not about them, it is for the greater good for the company… and also people who are hard workers.

It’s not good just being the boss, one has to also be a team player, so that the rest of the team respects one another for a great working environment.

Brands

It is amazing as to how much people take brands so seriously. To a certain extent, I also take them quite seriously.

I work for a popular South African brand, and it is rather amazing to see that people would spend their last money, just to be seen wearing a particular brand. The question would then be, what about wearing a name brand makes you feel?

Does it make people feel special? Do they want to be noticed? Do they actually associate with the brand and can they really afford it?

In the years that I’ve worked at this brand, I find that the majority of the people that buy their, have been doing so for many years and still want to continue supporting the brand, and the minority are those that just want to be associated and to be seen wearing the brand.

We as individuals need to look within ourselves to see whether we wear brands for ourselves or for the masses

Two people come out of a building and into a story

It could be that there were these two individuals who really didn’t like each other, probably girls, as we all know how bitchy women can be, because of hearsay. These two ladies happened to find themselves in the same building, maybe at the SARS to go pay their taxes, and had to go in the lift, where eventually they found themselves in the same lift.

As luck would have it, the lift gets stuck, and it’s just the two of them in this lift, they were then forced to create small talk. They continued to have a conversation, and found that they had more in common than they realised. The bad blood that they had toward each other became good, and two hours later, they were then freed from the lift.

Which brings us back to our original statement, two people come out of a building and into a story… the story of friendship began, and continues to this day.

Valentine shmalentine…

Valentine shmalentine, what exactly is the meaning of Valentines Day? It is apparently a day dedicated to show your love to your significant other, and if you don’t have one, you can show your love to those that you love and appreciate most in your life.

Personally, I believe that it is a money making scheme which forces people to spend money on this one day, where you could have spend the time to appreciate someone in the other days of the year.

Does this make me a bitter person? I don’t think so, but I don’t think it has any relevance to me and my life, although I must admit the idea “may be” a good one.

I still don’t think people understand the real reason as to why Valentines is even celebrated, but that’s what people choose to do.

I still think that love should and must be expressed everyday and not on one day, but nonetheless, I hope most people had a good Valentines Day.

Good hair?

What is good hair? I ask myself this question all the time, as a woman we may go through many hairstyles in our life time, and some of them may lead us into having a receding hair line.
If I have to look at some of the hairstyles that I have personally gone through over the years, there are just many to mention. I probably have about four or five different hairstyles in one year if I can some it up.
The motivation that most ladies have when doing hairstyles is the style of hairstyles that are in fashion at that particular time. I remember about a year ago when Rihanna had the edgy hairstyle with the sides being shaved, it became such a big thing, that most people did that hairstyle.
Some people do hairstyles without even thinking, just because of fashion, but also goes with people who wear clothes without even looking at their body type.
It’s amazing how opinion leaders have the ability to start a trend and influence the publics, one would think that’s only with fashion trends and actions, but also with a lot more- hair included.
Personally I think that there is no such as good hair, just as long as it is neat and presentable.

Designer pr

The first thing that comes when i personally think of designer pr is a fast paced environment that looks and sounds so that so glamorous which most people would want to get involved in i.e. graphic design, marketing, events and publicity.
However, when having a second think on designer public relations, I also begin to think of the internet and how the internet including social media is used, if not more than ever now in our daily lives.
As the public relations practitioner, we need to adapt fast and be able to incorporate the needs of the client and use them with the new found trend of using social media and the internet, which will also bring the aspect of graphic design that was one of my first original thought when I thought of designer PR.
As the world changes, so do trends change and therefore the PRP needs to adapt to those and use the trends to their advantage.

my music

Music has the ability to change a person. By changing a person, i mean it can either make you feel better or it can make you feel angry, sad, depending on whatever genre of music that you hear at that particular time.
The different genres of music that i listen to is hip hop, rap, house and soul. I love many types of music, as long as it sounds good to me.
When it comes to hip hop/rap, I’m more in to the production of the music and not necessarily into the words, the same thing with house.  The biggest star in hip hop at the moment is Kanye West. As controversial as he may be as well, not many can deny that his music is awesome. His latest album is receiving a lot of good reviews and I’m also enjoying the album.
When it comes to house, that is the music I listen to when I want to relax and to mellow out, especially deep house.
I could go on and on about music because it is a part of me and it is me. I constantly have a song playing in my head, and i don’t think that most people don’t have one.

I am

I am Sanelisiwe Guwa, although I prefer to be called Seni. I am a 23 year old young woman from Cape Town and have spent all my life in this City. I am the youngest child of two, with an older brother, so as the youngest I am often spoilt.

I am studying Public Relations and enjoying this course thoroughly, and am now doing my fourth year which is the Btech programme. I do not really like talking about myself or talking and I would like to think of myself as a woman of few words, I have been told by people that this is not true. Having studied this course, it has helped me to open up and to learn more about myself.

I am a very easy going person and don’t really complain much. As I have mentioned above, I don’t speak much, which then would make me a thinker rather that a talker.

I spend most of my free time with my friends, where we love to go out and be on the town, sometimes we go overboard with being out on the town, but I guess that what young people do.

I am looking forward to the year ahead with regards to schooling and I am hoping to be successful so that I can get my degree in this course.
