Earth hour happened on the 26th of March. This is an initiative to switch off lights and electrical aplliances for an hour at 20h30pm South African time.
It is a global event that is organised by the WWF (world widelife fund) to raise funds about the issue of climate change.
In Cape Town, there wasn’t much hype around Earth Hour in my opinion, as many people weren’t talking much about it.
I happened to be in Town at the time Earth Hour was just about to begin, and did also notice the lights of Table Mountain off. It also registered with me that it was taking place, but with the rest of the city, there wasn’t much.
I sadly didn’t participate in the initiative, and should be doing my bit to show that i care about the world i live in for the future generation.
